[3] The ring was broken by a fluke, in 2001, after a shipment of computer hard drives that had been stolen from the airport and sold to a manufacturer was stolen again from the manufacturer's warehouse. When he reported the theft the manufacturer listed the serial numbers of the missing drives, and police noticed that they matched the numbers of drives stolen from the airport. After they learned where the manufacturer had bought the drives, they were able to track back to the thieves. This case was featured in an episode of the TV series Masterminds, broadcast April 15/05. The leader of the ring -- and apparently the only man charged with the thefts -- was named Loa Lam Ong.

[12] There have been so many recalls for defective air bags, and they have been reported in so many sources, that I won't try to list them. I found many in the Virtual News Library and others in the Dow Jones full-text service by searching "air bags" OR "airbags" OR "air-bags" AND "recall".

[17] A personal message here to auto-makers. I bought my first new car in 1962 and I bought another every three to five years until 1992. Now I still drive my 13-year-old car because I can't buy a new one without an air bag. I urge all Canadians to buy only pre-airbag used cars until Canadian dealers offer us new cars without air bags. I also suggest that the family and friends of any Canadian killed by an air bag should sue the car-maker. If I was an American I would suggest that the FBI investigate the personal finances of the government officials who mandated air bags.
